Norse Gods - FREYA by Anonymous Mint 1oz .999 Silver Round BU Finish

Anonymous Mint

The fourth coin in the Norse Gods series, FREYA.

FREYA, Goddess of Love, is portrayed on the obverse of the coin.  In Norse mythology Freya presides over love, beauty, sexuality, fertility, gold, war and death.  She is daughter of Njord and twin sister of Frey.  Freya rides in a chariot drawn by two cats.  She has also been known to ride a battle swine, Hildisvini, into war.  The cloak of falcon feathers she possesses enables her to shapeshift into a falcon. As leader of the Valkyries, Freya receives half of those who die in battle into her hall, Sessrymner, while the other half go to Odin in Valhalla.  To honor this beautiful, well-known goddess, a day of the week has been named after her - Frida.  The reverse design is VALKYRIE, Chooser of the Slain.
