Wounded Healers - You Are Not Alone

“This image is based on a call where an entire family was killed in a car accident. There was a little girl still in her car seat, and I found her stuffed toy in the ditch covered in blood. I kept thinking of this poor girl and her family that were at one moment driving down the road...and in a split second, all violently killed. The scene haunted me for a long time and I couldn’t get the image of the little girl and her doll out of my mind. I knew she was probably holding her toy at the time of the collision. For this image, I show her as an angel still holding her toy bear. So now when I think of that scene, I think of this picture instead—the little girl, in a better place, still with her toy.”  Daniel Sundahl

The Wounded Healers silver round series is intended to help create awareness and continued conversation about the challenges that first responders and medical professionals face. PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and mental stess injuries affect many first responders. Many suffer in silence and some unfortunately, turn to suicide. Our hope is that this piece will serve as a reminder that you are not alone and encourage you to go with the power of healing. A portion of every round  sold will be donated to Wounded Warriors Canada, whose mission is to “honour and support Canada’s ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans, First Responders and their families.”

About the Mint: Pheli Mint

Pheli Mint is a private mint from Canada, founded by two friends, Phil and Eli, who share a passion for collectible silver rounds.

They are nurses who have worked in a variety of settings, including critical care and with high-risk populations. Phil is also an army reservist and spent over 10 years with his local volunteer fire department.

Both have firsthand experience of the challenges first responders and medical professionals face. They wanted to create a silver round series to pay tribute and raise awareness about PTSD and its effects.
